RR IPL 2025 Squad Review: Will RR finally do the Halla-Bol on IPL title after 2008?

Image
The last team we will discuss about in the IPL Team Review is Rajasthan Royals. Rajasthan Royals has had a roller-coaster IPL journey. They won the inaugral season in 2008 and then qualified for the playoff next time in 2013, missed out on playoffs spot because of loosing to MI in a high-voltage game at Wankhede and then again qualified to Playoffs in 2015 and crashed out of the tournament after loosing against RCB in eliminator. Then they faced a 2-year ban and then made a comeback in 2018. The 2018-21 phase was a dull one as they qualified only 1 time for playoffs and that too narrowly. Then, they changed their strategy after 2021 IPL and adopted an analytical approach towards, team-building, scouting and style-of-play. They were the most consistent team in 2022-24 IPL with their worst performance being a number 5 finish in the 2023 season. Ahead of the 2025 IPL Mega Auction, they retained their batting core of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Riyan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer and Dhr...

PBKS IPL 2025 Squad Review: Can the Ponting-Iyer duo bring the Punjab Franchise back on track?

Image
The next team we will discuss about in the IPL Team Review is Punjab Kings. Punjab Kings is unarguably the most underperforming franchise in the history of IPL with only 2 playoffs appearances in 17 seasons and the team failed to win the trophy in both the seasons as well. Over the years, the Punjab Franchise have changed their captains, coaches, support staff members. players, jersey colours, logo and even renamed themselves as Punjab Kings in 2021 which earlier used to be Kings  X1 Punjab. But, the one thing that remains constant is group stage elimination. This time around PBKS went to the 2025 mega auction with a huge purse of 110.5 Cr with an intention to build a team from the scratch. They have a coach-captain combo of  Ricky Ponting and Shreyas Iyer. This duo had also revived the fate of Delhi Capitals in the 2019 season and turned an abysmal Delhi team into a top-notch cricket team. Can this duo do the same with Punjab Kings in 2025? Let's find out. We will do...

Image
The next team we will discuss about in the IPL Team Review is Delhi Capitals. Delhi Capitals' journey in IPL can be divided in 4 phases: 2008-2012, 2013-2018, 2019-2021 and 2022-2024. Capitals were a consistent franchise in the 1st phase with 3 playoff appearances in 5 seasons and narrowly missing out in 2010. The 2nd phase is the dullest phase in the history of this franchise with 0 playoff appearances in 6 consecutive seasons. The 3rd phase was the revival phase where Ricky Ponting as a coach revived the franchise with players like Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Marcus Stoinis and Shimron Hetmyer alongside veterans like Shikhar Dhawan and R Ashwin. They came close to title 2 times but failed to win it. The 4th phase was a phase of misfortune where DC struggled with fitness issues of key players over the 3 seasons which saw them missing out narrowly 2 times for the playoffs berth in 2022 and 2024 while finishing at the bottom in 2023. This t...

Then they became inconsistent in the 2019-2023 phase before again peaking in 2024 and winning  the tile in a dominating manner.
